This is for teachers and families to support you in your journey in supporting students with diverse needs. In the 21st century, it is recognised that a "one size fits all" approach to education is no longer valid and a better way is needed to teach students with diverse needs so that they can realise their true potential.

Having witnessed first hand the frustrations many parents & teachers have faced in meeting the needs of their students, I decided to create this site to share all my knowledge, experience and expertise in inclusive education to help you overcome these frustrations, to work smarter not harder and to ensure no child is left behind.

My journey started at University where I qualified as a primary teacher in the UK. I taught as a classroom teacher for a number of years in the UK across the primary years.

It was during this time that I realised the number of children in the school I taught who had learning difficulties and who were failing to meet national benchmarks in Literacy and Numeracy and little support was available for them. 

So, I took the decision to take further training in teaching children with special needs culminating in me achieving a Post Graduate Diploma in Dyslexia and Literacy. This started me on the road to becoming an Inclusive Education Specialist Teacher. 

Whilst still in the UK, I undertook further training including a Certificate in Performance Coaching (Education) and THRASS Accredited Certificate. I am also an Associate Member of The British Dyslexia Association.

Having moved to Australia in 2006, I completed my Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies through Griffith University in 2012 and I then after a brief break from study, I continued on and in 2019 I achieved my Masters in Special Education - Intervention Studies.

In recognition of academic excellence in my Masters Degree, I was invited to join the Golden Key International Honors Society. This provides me with access to Higher Level Training to continue to further enhance my skills.

These studies have collectively provided me with the skills and knowledge required as an Inclusive Education Specialist Teacher. I continue to be on the forefront in this field through ongoing professional development, networking and sharing my knowledge by presenting at professional training days.

In 2019, I began the process of accreditation as Lead Teacher in Australia.

This is a vigorous and demanding process involving collating a portfolio of evidence which demonstrated that I meet all 37 descriptors of the 7 standards for Lead Teachers.

In addition, I was observed teaching and my colleagues were interviewed to verify if I met the criteria. In December 2020, I was invited to Customs House in Brisbane to received my award.

I was only 1 of 8 Lead Teachers accredited in Independent Schools Queensland in 2020. Only 0.25% of teachers in Australia have achieved Lead Teacher or Highly Accomplished Teacher.

The ceremony recognised that I am an elite teacher within the profession and I have had the pleasure of presenting at the national HALT summit on numerous occasions.
